Las Terrenas

Open beaches, with a town to come home to.

In Las Terrenas, days move between coconut palms, café terraces and lively streets. On Samaná’s Atlantic coast, this seaside town brings together time on the water, everyday encounters and trips into the green hills beyond.

The feel of the place

Everyday life
within reach of the sea

Las Terrenas is as much about daily rituals as it is about beaches. Walk beside the water, find a café worth returning to and let lunch last a little longer. The busy centre, internationally influenced restaurants and the shores of Bonita or Cosón offer different ways to settle in. Choose the convenience of nearby terraces or quieter stretches facing the Atlantic, then give yourself time to discover the neighbourhood around you.

Samaná’s green hills remain part of the scene behind the coast. One morning might start on the sand, while another leads towards El Limón’s trails on an excursion outside town. For a longer stay, explore the centre and the different beach areas separately before choosing the atmosphere that suits you.

A place on the map

Samaná’s Atlantic shoreline

Las Terrenas sits on the northern shore of the Samaná Peninsula. Cosón and Bonita lie towards the west, while Punta Popy continues the waterfront eastwards. Santa Bárbara de Samaná faces the bay on the other side of the hills. Las Galeras lies farther towards the peninsula’s eastern tip: these are separate destinations to explore on dedicated outings.
