Bayahibe

A village, its boats and the Caribbean.

In Bayahibe, the sea belongs to everyday village life. Boats fill the bay, restaurants invite you to linger, and excursions towards Saona bring the promise of a journey to the start of each day.

The feel of the place

The sea at the heart
of village life

Bayahibe has the scale of a village that encourages you to step outside without a fixed plan. Watch the boats, browse a shop and find a restaurant as you wander. Excursion departures bring movement to the waterfront before the day settles into a quieter rhythm. On a longer stay, this combination of ordinary life and open water offers a more personal connection with the coast, built through conversations, encounters and small daily rituals.

Nearby Dominicus beach and the landscapes of Cotubanamá bring variety to the week. Sea lovers can arrange dives and island outings from the area, while those who prefer staying ashore have a village where a walk and dinner already feel like a worthwhile part of the journey.

A place on the map

A bay facing the islands

Bayahibe lies in La Altagracia province, on the Caribbean coast east of La Romana. Dominicus is further southeast, while Cotubanamá National Park occupies the neighbouring landscape. Saona and Catalina are destinations for boat excursions rather than parts of the village centre; both require a separate outing, with boarding arrangements and the route confirmed through your chosen operator.

Experiences here and nearby

Make room for what you love.

A few ideas to discover the area at your own pace. Excursions are identified when they take place outside the destination.

Village

Wander around the bay

Explore the village centre between shops, boats and restaurants. Its appeal also lies in ordinary details: a conversation, a coffee and the movement of the boats accompanying your walk along the water, with no need to fill every hour.

Excursion

Discover Saona Island

Bayahibe is a maritime gateway to Saona. Set aside a full day and choose the itinerary carefully: the pleasure lies as much in the boat journey as in the stops planned on this island within Cotubanamá National Park.

Diving

Plan a trip below the surface

Regional reefs and wrecks offer plenty of reasons to get equipped. A local dive centre can shape the outing around your experience, interests and current conditions, helping you discover the bay from a perspective beyond the familiar waterfront.

Nature

Walk towards Cueva del Puente

Cueva del Puente lies within the nearby park and requires an outing separate from a village stroll. Vegetation and limestone formations bring an inland perspective to an area that visitors so often first experience from the surrounding sea.

Try a beach day in Dominicus

Head to Dominicus for a day focused on sand and swimming. This neighbouring district has its own holiday atmosphere; returning to Bayahibe for dinner lets you enjoy both settings over the course of the same coastal stay.

Before you discover Bayahibe

Can I enjoy Bayahibe outside a large resort?

The village centre has shops and restaurants, with an atmosphere distinct from the Dominicus hotel district. Your accommodation’s exact location determines the journeys you will need to make.

Do I need a boat to reach Dominicus?

No. Dominicus is a neighbouring district connected by road. Islands such as Saona and Catalina are the places reached on separate boat excursions.

Does buying a property include access to every facility?

Access rights depend on the property, residence and venues. Golf, clubs, excursions and other services are not automatically included. Check the terms for each project.
